    Format the hard drive.

    The hard drive in pieces.
    The data to stay there hidden you could simply grab hammer and brek the hard drive in pieces.

    A more-advanced OS may not *let* you format, but you can give it a try.

    If you took the hard drive apart, and heated the metal to red-hot, the heat would take the metal above the “fermi temperature” and completely randomize (erase) everything on it. Also, exposure to dust and oxidation would probably render everything unrecoverable anyway.
